The powder that can be tailor made to suit a particular firearm is progressive powder.
A progressive burning powder is designed so that its rate of gas production rises as the bullet moves down the barrel. Its grain size, shape (multi-perforated grains whose burning surface grows) and surface coatings of deterrent can be chosen to match the barrel length, calibre and projectile weight of a given weapon, which is what 'tailor made to its ballistics' means.
Black powder is a fixed mixture of charcoal, sulphur and saltpetre and burns degressively. Dense and bulk powders are classes of smokeless powder by their loading density, not powders engineered for one firearm.
