Which has the highest calorific value ?
Answer: C
The highest calorific value is that of hydrogen.
Hydrogen releases about 142 MJ per kilogram on combustion (higher heating value), the highest of any fuel by mass.
Petrol gives about 45-47 MJ/kg, coal about 15-30 MJ/kg depending on grade, and dry wood about 15-20 MJ/kg. Hydrogen's low density means it has a low energy content per unit volume, but per unit mass it is far ahead.
