Why does a wider-bore capillary accept more sample?
Answer: D
A larger internal diameter carries a thicker and longer band of stationary phase, so more analyte can dissolve in it before the partition isotherm curves and the peak fronts. Velocity, plate height and temperature are separate or work the other way - a wide column is less efficient. Trading efficiency for capacity is the bore decision, and a dirty or concentrated sample usually settles it in favour of the wider column. Reading the definition literally, rather than recalling a formula, is the reliable route through questions of this shape.
