While participating in a sports competition in class, Tanuj tells his friend that he will participate in the javelin throw and his sister can participate in jump rope because she is a girl and girls cannot throw javelin. This depicts :
Answer: D
Tanuj's remark depicts gender stereotyping.
A gender stereotype is a fixed, over-general belief about what boys or girls can or should do. Tanuj assumes his sister cannot throw the javelin simply because she is a girl, which is exactly such a belief, picked up from the society around him.
Gender constancy is a child's understanding that his or her own sex stays the same over time. Gender equality and gender equity are goals of fair treatment and fair opportunity, the opposite of what Tanuj expresses.
