"Nothing is an offence which is done by accident or misfortune, and without any criminal intention or knowledge in the doing of a lawful act in a lawful manner by lawful means and with proper care and caution"? Which section of Indian Penal Code is being discussed here?
Answer: C
The passage is the text of Section 80 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, on accident in doing a lawful act: nothing is an offence which is done by accident or misfortune, without any criminal intention or knowledge, in the doing of a lawful act in a lawful manner by lawful means and with proper care and caution.
Sections 85 and 87 are general exceptions in other categories, intoxication against his will and an act not intended and not known to be likely to cause death or grievous hurt, done by consent, respectively, and Section 88 deals with an act not intended to cause death, done by consent in good faith for a person's benefit. None of them is the accident exception.
