No arms in respect of which a licence is required under section 4 shall be so sold or transferred by any person unless a period of not less than __________ has expired after the giving of such information.
Answer: A
The waiting period is forty-five days.
Section 5(2) of the Arms Act allows a person to sell or transfer arms he lawfully holds for his own use to someone entitled to have them, without a dealer's licence. Its proviso adds safeguards for arms that need a licence: the owner must inform the District Magistrate or the officer in charge of the nearest police station in writing, and a period of not less than forty-five days must pass after giving that information before the sale or transfer.
Sixty, ninety and thirty days are not the period the proviso prescribes.
