What is the classification of drugs based on quantity in the NDPS Act?
Answer: D
The NDPS Act's quantity classes are Small, Intermediate, Commercial.
Since the 2001 amendment, punishment under the NDPS Act depends on the quantity involved. The Central Government notifies a small quantity and a commercial quantity for each drug. Anything above small but below commercial is treated as an intermediate quantity. Small quantities attract the lightest sentences, commercial quantities the heaviest, with mandatory minimum terms.
'Simple, Moderate, High', 'Personal, Commercial, Export' and 'Small, Medium, Large' are not terms the Act uses.
