Chlorophyll is carried in the quantosomes, the pigment-bearing units embedded in the thylakoid membranes of the chloroplast.
Each quantosome holds about 230 chlorophyll molecules and is regarded as the physical unit of photosynthesis. Mitochondria, centrosomes and lysosomes contain no chlorophyll.
