What is the scientific name for washing soda?
Answer: A
Washing soda is hydrated sodium carbonate, Na2CO3·10H2O.
It softens water by precipitating the calcium and magnesium as carbonates, so soap can lather. Baking soda is a different compound, sodium bicarbonate.
