Protein synthesis in eukaryotees is inhibited by :
Answer: D
Protein synthesis in eukaryotes is inhibited by cycloheximide.
Cycloheximide, from Streptomyces griseus, binds the E site of the eukaryotic 60S ribosomal subunit and blocks translocation during elongation. It does not affect bacterial 70S ribosomes, which is why it is used in the lab to stop cytosolic protein synthesis in eukaryotic cells, and to suppress fungi in bacterial culture media.
Chloramphenicol (50S, peptidyl transferase) and streptomycin (30S) act on prokaryotic ribosomes. Cephalosporin C is a β-lactam that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, not protein synthesis.
