The UN General Assembly adopted the Arms Trade Treaty in 2013.
The treaty, which regulates the international trade in conventional arms from tanks and combat aircraft to small arms and light weapons, was adopted by the General Assembly on 2 April 2013 by a recorded vote of 154 in favour, 3 against and 23 abstentions. It entered into force on 24 December 2014.
