Consider the following statements about the size gap in warm rain.
1. Condensation slows sharply near ten micrometres radius.
2. Collection is ineffective below about twenty micrometres radius.
3. The two mechanisms overlap comfortably in the intervening range.
Answer: D
The first two are correct and define the difficulty. The third is exactly what does not hold, since neither mechanism works well in the range between them and something else must bridge it. Turbulence, giant nuclei and mixing are the leading candidates.
