State whether the following is true or false.
Heat capacity is a constant for a given substance.
Answer: B
It rises with temperature for most substances, which is why the tabulated correlations are polynomials. Treating it as constant is acceptable over a narrow range and misleading over a wide one. Polynomial coefficients are tabulated for this reason.
