The thread of a kite is 120 m long and it is making 30° angular elevation with the ground .What is the height of the kite?
Answer: A
The taut thread is the hypotenuse and the kite's height is the side opposite the \( 30^{\circ} \) elevation, so sine applies.
\[ \sin 30^{\circ} = \frac{h}{120} \]
\[ h = 120 \times \frac{1}{2} = 60 \text{ m} \]
Using \( \tan 30^{\circ} \) would treat 120 m as the ground distance and give \( 40\sqrt{3} \approx 69.3 \) m - but the thread is the slant length, not the base.
