Which is the highest literary prize given by the Government in India?
Answer: D
It is the Sahitya Akademi Award.
Given by the national academy of letters since 1954 for an outstanding book in each of the twenty-four recognised languages, it is the highest literary honour conferred by a government body in India. The Jnanpith, though more prestigious, is a private award.
