Under which one of the following Sections of the Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955 has 'power of State Government to impose collective fine' been provided?
Answer: B
The power to impose a collective fine is in Section 10 A.
Section 10A of the Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955, inserted by the amendment of 1976, empowers the State Government, if satisfied that the inhabitants of an area are concerned in or abetting the commission of untouchability offences, to impose a collective fine on them and apportion it among them.
Section 10 deals with abetment of an offence. Section 14 deals with offences by companies and section 14A with protection of action taken in good faith. None of them provides for collective fines.
