Under which one of the following Sections of the Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955 has 'offences by companies' been provided?
Answer: C
Offences by companies are dealt with in Section 14.
Section 14 of the Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955 provides that where an offence under the Act is committed by a company, every person who was in charge of and responsible to the company for the conduct of its business at the time is deemed guilty, unless he proves that the offence was committed without his knowledge or that he exercised all due diligence to prevent it.
Section 10 deals with abetment, section 12 with the presumption made by courts in certain cases, and section 16 makes the Act override other laws. None of them deals with offences by companies.
