Which mnemonic captures the pressure and temperature altimeter hazards?
Answer: D
Flying into lower pressure or colder air without correction places the aircraft lower than indicated, which is the sense the mnemonic captures. The second option is the same rule stated in reverse and is therefore also true, which makes it a subtle distractor, but the first is the standard form in which the warning is taught. Setting the subscale corrects for pressure but not for temperature. The quantity that varies and the quantity that does not are worth naming before any substitution is attempted.
