Android Inc was founded in 2003 by Andy Rubin and others. Google acquired it in 2005, developed Android as an open-source mobile operating system, and the first Android phone came out in 2008.
Microsoft and Apple are Google's rivals, with Windows Phone and iOS. Linux is not a company at all but the open-source kernel on which Android is built, so it could not have bought Android Inc.
