MSI stands for Medium Scale Integration.
Integrated circuits are classified by how many components (transistors or logic gates) are placed on one chip: SSI (small scale integration, up to about 10 gates), MSI (medium scale integration, roughly 10 to 100 gates), LSI (large scale), VLSI (very large scale) and beyond. MSI chips include counters, multiplexers and decoders.
'Medium Scale Integrated' uses the adjective instead of the noun; the I in SSI, MSI, LSI and VLSI is always integration. 'Micro-star Integrated' and 'Medium Scale Intelligent' are not terms used in electronics.
