World Wetlands Day is celebrated on February 2.
The date marks the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands at Ramsar, Iran, on 2 February 1971. The day has been observed since 1997, and in 2021 the UN General Assembly made it a UN international day. It raises awareness of the role of wetlands in water supply, biodiversity and climate.
