Consider the following statements about camber.
1. It shifts the zero-lift angle of attack to a negative value.
2. It produces a nose-down moment about the aerodynamic centre.
3. It moves the aerodynamic centre to the trailing edge.
Which of the statements given above is or are correct?
Answer: B
Camber changes the zero-lift angle and introduces a residual moment, but the aerodynamic centre stays near the quarter chord in subsonic flow whatever the camber. Only its position in supersonic flow moves appreciably, and then towards mid-chord.
