Answer: B
The Academy Board of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad, is headed by the Home Secretary (the Union Home Secretary).
The Ministry of Home Affairs set up the Board by an office order of 20 May 1976, after an Estimates Committee visit to the Academy. The Union Home Secretary chairs it, and its members are senior civil servants, police officers, educationists and experts in police administration. It visits the Academy at least once a year, reviews its working and makes recommendations to the Ministry.
The Home Minister is the political head of the Ministry but does not chair this board. The Minister and the Secretary of Human Resource Development belong to a different ministry, which has no part in a police training academy under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
