Which of the following statements about the Gandhara School of Art is NOT correct?
Answer: B
The incorrect statement is that Gandhara art enjoyed the liberal patronage of Indian rulers.
Its patrons were foreign dynasties settled in the north-west - the Indo-Greeks, Sakas, Parthians and above all the Kushanas under Kanishka. The school's Hellenistic modelling, its Buddhist subject matter and its use of grey schist are all correctly described.
