Based on the Energy Statistics India - 2024, which of the following regions accounted for the highest share in geographical distribution of installed capacity of electricity generating, as on 31.03.2023 ?

The highest share belonged to the Western Region.
Energy Statistics India 2024 shows the installed electricity generating capacity of the Western Region (Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa and the Union Territories there) as the largest of the five regions as on 31 March 2023. It holds many large coal-fired plants as well as major solar and wind capacity in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
The Southern and Northern Regions follow, and the Eastern Region's share is much smaller.
