The formation of the Rockies and the collision of India with Asia belong to the Cenozoic.
The Cenozoic began about 66 million years ago. India, having broken away from Gondwana, drifted north and collided with Asia around 50 million years ago, closing the Tethys and raising the Himalayas - a collision still in progress. The Appalachians are Palaeozoic and the break-up of Pangaea Mesozoic.
