How many states lie within the Indian Deccan Plateau?

Eight states lie within the Deccan plateau.
They are Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The plateau is a triangular block bounded by the Satpuras in the north and the two Ghats on either side, tilting gently east.
