Shankaracharya was born that year.
Tradition places his birth at Kaladi in Kerala in 788 and his death at thirty-two in 820. In that short life he wrote the commentaries on the Brahma Sutras, the Gita and the principal Upanishads, and founded the four mathas that still bear his name.
