In his Annals and Antiquities of Rajasthan, Tod traced the Guhil (Guhilot) dynasty of Mewar back to the rulers of Vallabhi in Saurashtra, telling the story of a Vallabhi queen's son, Guha, as the founder of the line. Later historians have questioned this origin.
Abul Fazal wrote the Ain-i-Akbari and Nainasi his Khyat, but the Vallabhi link is the account associated with Tod. Gopinath Sharma is a modern historian of Rajasthan.
