Which of the following transducers operates based on changes in inductance ?
Answer: A
The transducer based on changes in inductance is the LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transformer).
In an LVDT, moving the ferromagnetic core changes the mutual inductance between the primary and the two secondaries, so the induced secondary voltages change with core position. It is a variable-inductance transducer used for displacement, and through a diaphragm or spring, for pressure and force.
A strain gauge changes its resistance when stretched, and a thermistor changes its resistance with temperature. A piezoelectric crystal generates charge under mechanical stress. None of them works by changing inductance.
