What is the name of the international encoding standard for use with different languages and scripts by which each letter, digit or symbol is assigned a unique numeric value that applies across different platform, device or language ?
Answer: B
The standard is Unicode.
Unicode assigns a unique number, called a code point, to every character in almost every writing system, including Devanagari, Latin, Arabic and Chinese, as well as digits and symbols. Because the number is the same on every platform, program and language, text can be exchanged without characters being garbled.
Before Unicode, separate encodings such as ASCII covered only limited character sets. 'Multicode', 'Hypercode' and 'Metacode' are not the names of this international standard.
