The National Policy on Library and Information System was introduced in 1986.
The Government of India set up a committee under D.P. Chattopadhyaya, which submitted the National Policy on Library and Information System in 1986. It proposed a national network of libraries and information centres.
1988, 2000 and 2012 are wrong; for example, the National Knowledge Commission's library recommendations came only in 2007.
