Arrange the following according to their year of origin :
(i) Indian National Bibliography
(ii) British National Bibliography
(iii) Cumulative Book Index
(iv) Books in Print
Codes :
Answer: D
The Cumulative Book Index began in 1898, Books in Print in 1948, the British National Bibliography in 1950 and the Indian National Bibliography in 1957. The order is therefore (iii), (iv), (ii), (i). The other orders put the later national bibliographies ahead of the American trade lists. The answer is the fourth sequence. The Cumulative Book Index is American and lists English-language books, Books in Print is the American trade list of books available, and the national bibliographies of Britain and India came after them.
