SPARC and POWER PC are based on which of the following microprocessor architecture ?
Answer: B
SPARC and PowerPC are RISC architectures.
Sun's SPARC (Scalable Processor Architecture, 1987) grew out of the Berkeley RISC project, and PowerPC came from the 1991 Apple-IBM-Motorola alliance built on IBM's POWER design. Both use fixed-length instructions, a load-store design, many general-purpose registers and simple instructions suited to pipelining.
CISC is the contrasting style of the x86 and VAX, and EPIC (explicitly parallel instruction computing) is the design of Intel's Itanium. Since RISC fits, 'None of the above' is wrong.
