Discussion
What does it mean for an agent to be reactive?
Answer: A
A reactive agent maps perception to action with little or no intervening computation, which gives speed and robustness at the cost of foresight. Subsumption architectures are the canonical example. Change driven operation, social response and replanning are different behaviours sharing the word. Reactive and deliberative are the two poles that hybrid architectures try to combine, and being clear about which is meant keeps that discussion coherent.
