If a packet arrive with an M-bit value is 'l' and a fragmentation offset value '0', then it is ______ fragment.
Answer: A
The packet is the first fragment. The M (more fragments) bit is 1 when more fragments follow, and the fragmentation offset gives the position of the data in the original datagram. An offset of 0 means the fragment starts at the beginning of the datagram, so with M = 1 it is the first fragment. The question prints the 1 as the letter l.
A middle fragment has M = 1 but a non-zero offset, and the last fragment has M = 0 with a non-zero offset. 'All of the above' is wrong, since the two given values fit only one case.
