What is the problem with an interface if you type show interface serial 0 and receive the following message? "Serial0 is administratively down, line protocol is down."
Answer: B
Correct answer: The administrator has the interface shut down.
“Administratively down” has one meaning only: the interface carries the shutdown command, which is the default state of every router interface until no shutdown is entered. It is worth distinguishing from the other two failure patterns - “down, line protocol is down” points to a physical or cabling fault, while “up, line protocol is down” points to a mismatch in encapsulation, keepalives or clocking.
