An isometric drawing exceeds the corresponding projection in size by about
Answer: C
An isometric drawing uses true lengths where the projection uses foreshortened ones, so the size ratio is the reciprocal of the isometric scale: \[ \frac{1}{0.816} = 1.2247 \] \[ \text{excess} = 1.2247 - 1 = 0.2247 \approx 22.5\% \] So the drawing is a little over a fifth larger in every linear dimension. Areas differ by the square of that, \( 1.2247^{2} = 1.5 \), which is half again as much as the projection.
