Which of the following is a valid Karnaugh map grouping rule?
Answer: D
The valid rule is Each Group must contain only adjacent cells.
In a Karnaugh map, a group may combine only cells that are adjacent (differing in one variable), including wrap-around adjacency at the edges, and its size must be a power of two: 1, 2, 4, 8 and so on.
Groups need not lie in a straight line (2 by 2 squares are common), drawing them as circles is only a convention, and groups of 1, 2, 8 or 16 cells are allowed, not only four.
