Which of the following characters indicate to acidity of lawns?
Answer: B
Growth of moss indicates acid conditions in a lawn. Moss spreads on acidic, poorly drained, shaded soil where grass is weak, so its presence is a sign that the soil needs liming.
Patch burning of grass points to fungal disease or dry spots, ants point to dry soil or nests, and weeds can grow in any soil, so none is a specific sign of acidity.
Mosses grow best on moist, acid and shaded ground where the turf grass is thin. When moss appears the usual remedy is lime and better drainage, and this is why moss is read as a sign of acidity.
