Read the following statements and choose the correct option :
Assertion (A) : Teachers should create a meaningful environment which seeks active participation and engagement of all children.
Reason (R) : All children are intrinsically motivated to learn and are capable of learning.
Answer: B
Both (A) and (R) are true and (R) is the correct explanation of (A).
The assertion reflects the child-centred view of the NCF 2005: teachers should create meaningful learning environments in which every child participates actively.
The reason gives the belief that underlies it. If all children are naturally motivated to learn and capable of learning, the teacher's task is to provide an environment that engages that motivation and capacity in every child, rather than to sort children or force learning on them. The reason therefore explains why teachers should create such an environment.
