Misconceptions among students should be __________ and intuitive guesses should be __________ among students in primary grades.
Answer: A
Misconceptions should be acknowledged and intuitive guesses encouraged.
A misconception tells the teacher how the child is thinking. Acknowledging it and working with it, for example by creating situations that challenge it, helps the child build correct understanding. Intuitive guesses show active engagement and willingness to hypothesise, so they should be encouraged and then tested.
Dismissing or ignoring misconceptions leaves them in place, and discouraging guesses makes children afraid of being wrong, so all the other combinations are wrong.
