How many digits are there in the arrangement each of which is immediately followed by a consonant?
Answer: D
There are 4 such digits.
The digits in the arrangement are 2, 4, 8 and 7. Checking the element immediately after each:
2 is followed by D, 4 by C, 8 by K and 7 by F. All four of these are consonants, so every digit qualifies.
'None', 2 and 3 undercount. A slip such as treating the 8 as followed by a symbol, or overlooking the 7 near the end, gives one of these smaller numbers.
