Edward Deming was an American professor.
W. Edwards Deming was an American statistician and management consultant who taught at New York University. He is famous for teaching statistical quality control to Japanese industry after the Second World War, and for his fourteen points of management, which shaped Total Quality Management.
His influence in Japan, where the Deming Prize is named after him, is the trap behind the 'Japanese professor' option. He was not Chinese or British.
