‘A Defence of Poetry’ was published in:
Answer: C
A Defence of Poetry was written by Shelley in 1821, in reply to Thomas Love Peacock's essay The Four Ages of Poetry, but it was published only after his death, in 1840. The printed key is 1840. The year 1821 is the year of writing, and 1819 and 1841 are not dates connected to the essay. Peacock's Four Ages of Poetry (1820) argued that poetry was becoming useless, and Shelley wrote the Defence in 1821 in reply, claiming that poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world. Mary Shelley published the essay in 1840 in Essays, Letters from Abroad. The years 1841, 1819 and 1821 are not the publication year.
