With whom did WK Wimsatt write the seminal work ‘The Verbal Icon’?
Answer: C
The Verbal Icon (1954) was written by W. K. Wimsatt with Monroe C. Beardsley. It includes their essays The Intentional Fallacy and The Affective Fallacy, which are key texts of New Criticism. Victor Shklovsky was a Russian Formalist, R. S. Crane was of the Chicago school, and I. A. Richards wrote Practical Criticism, so they were not the co-authors. Beardsley, an American philosopher of aesthetics, was Wimsatt's friend and co-author of The Intentional Fallacy (1946) and The Affective Fallacy (1949), and the two are collected in The Verbal Icon (1954). R. S. Crane belonged to the Chicago critics.
