Discussion
Consider the following statements about ground loads:
1. Landing impact, taxiing, braking and turning all produce them.
2. They frequently size the undercarriage and its attachment structure.
3. They are always smaller than the flight loads.
Which of the statements given above is or are correct?
Answer: B
The first two are correct. The third is false: a heavy landing or a braked roll over rough ground can exceed anything the airframe meets in flight, which is precisely why the ground cases are analysed as a separate family.
