State whether the following is true or false.
Mixing two streams of different concentration gives a product whose concentration is the simple average of the two.
Answer: D
The average must be weighted by the flow rates, and only equal flows make the simple average correct. This is the same weighting error that appears in averaging molar masses and in blending recipes. Equal flows are the only case where it happens to work.
