This is the false statement. Inversions suppress vertical mixing. Because temperature increases with height, a rising parcel cools at the adiabatic rate while its surroundings grow warmer, so it becomes colder and denser than the air around it and sinks back - a restoring force that opposes vertical motion.
The other three are true. That suppression is exactly what traps pollution near the ground; radiation inversions do break up after sunrise as the warming ground erodes them from below; and increasing temperature with height is the definition of an inversion.
