In which state would you find the sea coast where Vasco da Gama first landed after discovering the sea route from Europe to India ?
Answer: C
The coast is in Kerala.
Vasco da Gama sailed round the Cape of Good Hope and, guided across the Arabian Sea, reached the Malabar coast near Calicut (Kozhikode) in May 1498. He landed at Kappad, near Calicut, which is in present-day Kerala.
His voyage opened the sea route from Europe to India and led to the Portuguese presence on the west coast. Karnataka lies further north on the same coast, and Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are on the east coast, which he did not reach on this voyage.
